We do private domain email hosting and virus/spam filtering. We can run an email server for you or filter for your in-house email server preventing your server from having to deal with the onslaught of spammers an hackers. Our virus and spam filters are updated HOURLY to prevent those nasties from getting into your network.
For DNS hosting we do all the work so you don't need to learn how DNS works. Some hosting services give you a control panel and you are expected to learn and understand DNS. With us you tell us what you want to happen and we worry about how the DNS works to make it so.
Our claim to fame, the thing that we do better than other web hosting outfits is we run a secure performance oriented web farm with a very high bandwidth allowance (see throughput in below table). Our servers are secured, we spend a lot of time applying all the patches and security updates. Our servers are also maintained and load balanced so site response is always crisp. We are very reserved about how many sites go on a server and very careful to make sure the server has excellent uptime and response time. Most of our servers have a yearly downtime total of about 7 minutes. (that's an uptime of 99.998% for you statistical types). A few servers have had more downtime when hardware has failed, but since 1995 no server has ever been down for a full day.
We base website cost on the overall size of the site on disk. The reason for this is that a large part of the cost of web hosting is the cost of backing up the systems. The more there is to backup the greater the cost.

TRAFFIC: Each website is allowed 500x site size per month in Megabytes of traffic. So for example if you are being billed for a 50MB web site then you are allowed 25 Gig per month in traffic. This is roughly 5x as much as most ISP's allow and very few sites will even come close to that kind of traffic levels.
SSL and Secure Site Certificates: Basically a cert serves two functions. It guarantees to the client end that you are who you say you are (you are certified) and it allows an encrypted connection so that the client and server can communicate securely. We all kinds of SSL.
DATABASE: Our servers support Access databases & MySQL
CONTENT RESTRICTIONS: Our position is that if the site is legal and doesn't cause a disturbance for us or our other customers then it's OK. Where it becomes a problem is when publication of the fact that we host a site can have an adverse affect on our business, in those cases we reserve the right to refuse to host the site. It's strictly a business based decision. Web sites are subject to our standard AUP and we absolutely do not allow spamming or sites who's address is actively being spammed.
SITE DESIGN SERVICES: We don't offer any artistic design services, however we do offer backend consulting and coding services. If you need an artistic type web site designer we can point you at several different good developers. If you need advice on how to make your site do something complicated, incorporate some backend functionality or a database or need to know security implications of some feature you want to add or something like that then we can provide someone to do that work or as a consultant for an hourly charge.
